So I guess that whole “reasons why I’m OK with not going to Lollapalooza” was pointless

… because as of last night I have a flight to Chicago!

I mean, the stuff in my original post still applies — I’ve already seen a lot of the bands I like who will be there — but they are all great bands. I was offered a weekend media pass and while I still had to pay for my flight, I am justifying it by reminding myself that at the end of the summer I get reimbursed for my Metro cards (about $250, almost the cost of the plane tickets) and I also get back the security deposit for my apartment. Not to mention a ton of my friends are going, and it’ll be the first time seeing most of them since school got out.

I’m not writing about the whole the fest like I did last year, but I’ll be there editing, posting, and helping with coverage for venuszine.com.

Bands I want to see: Radiohead, Wilco, Mates of State, Okkervil River, Cat Power, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Girl Talk, Santogold, Kid Sister, the Cool Kids, the Ting Tings, Saul Williams … and because that’s a realistic number of acts to check out, I’ll actually get to check out new music.
