Only in New York could my 4th of July be spent seeing Sonic Youth for free. I will admit I don’t know a ton of their music, but I do like them and c’mon, it was free. Didn’t hurt that Carlye and I got right up to the front without pushing anyone, even though we didn’t get there early.
It did rain a little bit, but what’s another show in the rain? I’ve already been stuck in it before a show (Kid Sister/Vampire Weekend), during openers (The Hold Steady), and after a show (Death Cab) … so I guess this kind of completes it, right?
